Negative Effects of Video Games
Posted by Mike | Filed under Games
Recently, after reading an article stating that video games are threatening the jock culture, I decided to blog about it. I felt that the author was extremely biased against video games and though it needed to be said. Not more than a couple of hours after posting it, there were several comments that appear to be from the author, Stephenson Billings. However, because of the anonymous nature of the I cannot be sure if it actually was him or not.
And while I disagree with his methods of countering my comments, I do not believe in censorship despite the fact that I disagree with his inflamatory comments.
Therefore I have decided to digging into the different evidence presented by him and additional evidence against and for video games.
American Psychological Association
The American Pschological Association (APA) uses this item called the Diagnostics and Statistics Manual (DSM). This particular item is the biggest item that is used in diagnosing and identifying mental disorders and incidence rates. The APA has rejected including the definition of video game addiction in the DSM.
